We are based in Agra, India; yes the same Agra which is famous for the symbol of Love Taj Mahal. But Agra is not all about Taj. This city, is famous for many other beautiful monuments of historical importance, leather products, the old part which is known as 'Walled Agra' local sweets & snacks, and of course precious handknotted Indian Rugs.

Carpet making was brought to India by the Great Mughal Emperor Babur back in 15th Century when he came from Persia and settled in Agra. This is where he set up the first carpet making factories in India. Mughals, who were great patrons of fine art & literature continued Babur's zest for carpets and thorughout their lineage, there were hundreds of thousands of artisans who learned this art of carpet making and spread the know how thoughout India. It is said that Akbar had nearly 100, 000 finely knotted carpets in his Royal Carpet Factory which unfortunately got destroyed in a terrible fire.

We at TheRugFactory. In strive to ensure that each of our carpet, is an exemplary work of human creativity & the expression of the Indian spirit of art & literature. We export our goods to countries such as USA, UK, Holland & Belgium.

Our work starts from selecting an old design to reproduce, getting the design made on paper for the weaver to emulate, selecting the colors for the design, washing the raw rug, finishing it, marketing it & finally packing & dispatching. Each of the above process is done in-house. We use different kinds of wool for different types of effects.

We do not have state-of-the-art infrastructure for producing carpets, but we tend to follow the same old proven technique & processes as were used 500 years back. Not one of our pieces is even touched by any form of machine, but everything is done manually by hand. If you visit our looms, or washing facilities or dyeing units, you will get the feeling that you have gone back in time
