The Surgmed Surgical Group of Companies began operations in 1992 as a North American distribution company known as Advanced Surgi-Pharm Inc. The company quickly became recognized as an industry leader and specialty distributor of surgical products, targeting the OBGYN, L&D, Neuro, General Surgery and Central Sterile departments.

In 1997, Batrik Medical Manufacturing Inc. was launched, specializing in the fabrication of silicone and plastic products used in surgery, CSR/SPD and Endoscopy. These products are manufactured in our onsite, HEPA-filtered production facility. Batrik immediately set itself apart with its ability to offer product customization, and soon its marketing reach was extending well beyond North America. Batriks products are now sold on an international level through a network of established dealers in over 35 countries. Batrik is a Valued Partner of the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).

Imperial Surgical Ltd. (ISL) was acquired in 1998, a move which proved to be a perfect compliment. Imperial Surgical Ltd. brought its excellent reputation to Surgmed, a legacy which dates back to 1935, making it one of Canada's oldest hospital capital equipment manufacturers. It is well-known as a manufacturer of stainless steel products, such as; Our very popular Blanket and Fluid Warming Cabinets, Case Carts, Instrument Tables, Straddle Tables, Mayo stands and much more. Unlike other stainless steel manufacturers, 100% of Imperial Surgical Ltd's production and expertise is dedicated to the healthcare market.
