Zikometso Smallholder Farmers Association of Malawi

Zikometso Smallholder Farmers Association(ZISFA) is a member af National Smallholder Farmers Association of Malawi(NASFAM). NASFAM is a non governmental organisation aiming at improving the livelyhoods of smallscale farmers. Malawi is an agrobased economy with a majority of its citizens below the poverty line. ZISFA as an association helps farmers to improve production and access international markets.



Currently we are exporting our chili to Europe but we would like to widen the base. We are capable of producing 200 metric tonnes in one year.



Our products can classified into three

1. Raw dry chili crop/fruit

2. Chili powder

3. Chili seed



The proceeds and profits are directly transfered to member farmers so that their income is enhanced.



Membership is close to seven thousand and each member grows the chili as individuals. The association comes in to supergrade the crop so that it is ready for export.



We are located in the southern part of Malawi i.e Mulanje, Thyolo and Phalombe.



Apart from crop production we also indulge into other development activities and gender, HIV/AIDS awareness issues.
