Albareros S.L.U

Albareros, S.L.U. is a new company that aims to create, process and package iodized sea salt in a facility certified under ISO, IFS and BRC, located in Sanlucar de Barrameda (Cadiz, Spain).

The company was founded with the purpose of attending to a continual need from both the government and salt industry relating to proper salt iodization.

Along these lines, from company management, we are pleased to have created an innovative product such as iodized sea salt from Albareros, in collaboration with the Research Group of Chemical and Food Technology, University of Cadiz.

The initial Albareros project was aided by the Ministry of Industry (Bay of Cadiz Reindustrialisation Plan) and Junta de Andalucia (Department of Innovation, Science and Enterprise via IDEA agency, section innovation).

More specifically, Albareros joins the sector having achieved, inter alia, the following objectives:

1. Obtain a totally homogenised, iodized sea salt. For that purpose, our R & D department has researched and worked alongside the University of Cadiz and external laboratories.

2. Process and package the product in a facility that strictly follows the standards of ISO 22000 and 14001, BRC and IFS.

3. Commercialize a iodized sea salt that retains its Iodine concentration during the cooking process and that is not lost regardless of environmental conditions, use and storage.

Moreover, the recommendations of international organisations responsible for the eradication of disorders resulting from Iodine deficiency (WHO, UNICEF and the International Council for Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders, ICCIDD ) on the regular consumption of iodized salt, i.e. Iodine fortified salt have been taken into consideration in the creation of our product.

Therefore, we at Albareros create an iodized salt that meets all standards established by Spanish regulations and that really brings the necessary levels of Iodine throughout the lifetime of the product. This new iodized sea salt is sold under the brand COMENSAL.
