ABOUT US
With facilities founded in 1942, the Caves do Freixo, SA, started business in 2001 with a common objective, produce and market wines, spirits, sparkling, etc, high quality, with the designation of origin DOC Natural, selected and purchased from producers from specific regions known to work.

In pursuing this objective, the project sought to involve a winemaker who is employing the traditional methods of winemaking and their advocates to utililization.

In January 2010, the Alves family, Isabel Cristina Oliveira Alves, Luis Manuel Oliveira Alves and Rui Moura Alves, acquired all the shares of the company, and are the current company owners.

We are a midsize company, well known to connoisseurs and collectors of natural wines of good quality, with facilities in Sangalhos on Main Street, located in the heart of the geographical area of Bairrada.

We have a covered area of 10,000 m2, with its bottling lines, one line for the production of sparkling natural underground cellars with a capacity of 2 million bottles last stage, charentais alembic for distillation of wine and spirits in its aging in oak casks French for their growth and harmony over many years.

Ensuring the quality of our products, bottling, and aging time in the basement, are from the beginning over and under the responsibility of the winemaker Rui Moura Alves, designated by the Wine Magazine REVISTA DE VINHOS Winemaker of the Year as the year in 2001.

Recently with the entry winemaker Isabel Alves, will present as news, as well as new styles of wine, young, fruity, fresh, etc. that will go against modernity and youth styles, etc..

WHAT WE DO
Forgoing have its own production, to have always the possibility of offering our customers the best wines, we bet and invest in the acquisition of superior quality wines, from small producers of the most representative wine regions, such as, Bairrada, Dao, Douro, Alentejo, Beiras, carefully screened from the vineyard until the harvest at our laboratory and their Winemakers.

Apart from wines with designation of origin right to DOC, Caves sell other wine products such as natural sparkling, old brandies, grape marc spirit, liquors varied, many table wines, etc., which can be viewed in our section products on this website.

Represent to the world famous VINEGAR MOURA ALVES, this a natural product that has an internship of at least 10 years before leaving for the market.
