The cold, deep and clean waters of Ladoga are not only a remarkable sight of the region. This lake is the largest in Europe, its area being 18400 square km, the stock of water is 908 cubic kilometers. The lake is famous for the unique structure of its fresh water being distinguished by minor mineralization. It is well known that the water of Ladoga is twice as free-salined and clean than the Siberian "sea" Baikal. And it is not fortuitous that the seamen of Russian sail fleet took reserves of Ladoga water for long journeys, which did not lose its qualities during the passages from Baltic to South America.
Founded in 1940, the factory was completely reconstructed in 2004. The result of modernization was transformation of Russian Surimi Complex into an enterprise of European level, meeting the world standards in the field of food. The complex was totally equipped with modern equipment of the leading developing companies - Japanese, South-Korean and German. The technological process is utmostly automated, which makes it possible to improve the quality of products by exclusion of human factor. The construction of own water-purifying structures and a laboratory making it possible to control the quality of released products completed the chain of transformations at Russian Surimi Complex. At present the personnel of the enterprise totals about 500 workers. Among them are employees responsible for maintaining permanent contacts with the leading manufacturers of food equipment, for tracking and introducing new developments. This is because development is one of major priorities in the activities of Russian Surimi Complex.
The developed industrial infrastructure, water communications, railway access roads, the tier, the slip for raising vessels and own water intake facility using the resources of Lake Ladoga - all this ranges Russian Surimi Complex along with the most advanced enterprises of the industry.
The production of crabmeat sticks, just like production of surimi, is one of major specializations of Russian Surimi Complex. The specialists of the enterprise have mastered and inculcated the Japanese technology of production of surimi base and surimi product. All production at the enterprise is carried out in accordance with the sanitary norms of the European Community.
Besides, the system of internal quality control was introduced - check of production at several basic stages, not only at the final one, as envisaged by industry standards. This makes it possible not only to exclude any spoilage and inconformity with the requirements to the products, but also to improve their quality considerably. Currently the work is carried out aimed at introduction of internal system of administration ISO 9002 and international accounting standard IFRS. Russian Surimi Complex is the only enterprise in Russia having a full production cycle
