Our saffron is organically grown in Iran using absolutely no chemical fertilizers or additives. Saffron is the dried stigmas of the saffron crocus flower. Each individual crocus contains 3 stigmas and to yield just 1 gram of saffron takes 150 saffron crocus flowers. Saffron is harvested early in the morning before sunrise and then it is dried in completely hygienic lab conditions, allowing for the highest levels of both crocine and safranal. The crocuses are grown through the spring and summer for the late autumn harvest when the flowers are hand picked (as machines would destroy them), then dried and packed in a carefully controlled sanitary laboratory.
